Welcome to the Open Week 2014 of the Department of Computational Sciences (CCC) of INAOE!

This open week is intended for attracting national and international prospective students willing to pursue their MSc or PhD degrees with us. During the week, a number of activities have been programmed including lab tours, demos, interviews with the researchers, seminars, etc so that prospective student can find out more about the department life. We hope to show those prospective students with a hint of the life at INAOE and show them some of the research projects going on in the department. Please, read below for further details about the Open Week.

  • Attendance scholarships: Some scholarships are still available. These scholarships will cover nationwide terrestrial transportation from and to your place of origin, accomodation at INAOE's bungalows during the whole week and 2 meals per day (breakfast and lunch). You may still participate in the event, but you shall be responsible for your own expenses.
  • Admission to MSc and PhD: The call for the new admission process for the posgraduate courses is now available.

Registration

Booking is essential to attend the CCC Open Week. To register for this event, please fill the registration form and accompany it with your marks sheet. Application may be filled in English or Spanish. Attendance is limited to 50 prospective students. A limited number of attendance scholarships are available, these will be assign to the best students provided you asked to be considered in the registration form. You may still attend even if you are not granted a scholarship, but you'll be responsible for your expenses.

All participants are welcome to Monday's dinner (even if you have not been granted a scholarship).

Venue and accomodation

All activities of the open week will take place at INAOE's main campus in Puebla (Mexico). Here are some maps;

Students who are funded by INAOE will be accommodated at INAOE's bungalows for free. Other students will have to make their own arrangements for accomodation; you may stay at any of the hotels nearby in Cholula.

About the department

The department of Computational Sciences (CCC) of INAOE is one of Mexico's leading research departments in computing. It has 21 full time researchers all of them recognized by the National Researcher's System (SNI) in Mexico. Moreover, over 40% of them are in the top ranks levels II and III. Both of our posgraduate degrees; the MSc and the PhD are recognised by the National Census of Quality Postgraduate Degrees (PNPC), and thus, all of our accepted students will be entitled to a CONACYT scholarship.

The areas of expertise of our researchers include: machine learning and pattern recognition, reconfigurable and high performance computing, computer vision, robotics, biomedical signal processing and analysis, natural language processing and, network and ubiquitous computing.
