I am member of the Computer Science Department at the National Institute for Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE), Mexico, since 2002.
Most of what I do involves the development of new models and algorithms of pattern recognition to analyze and classify data described by numeric and non numeric attributes (Mixed Data), such as those stored in relational databases. However, I have also gone into unstructured data (text) and graph databases.
Previous appointments include:
Research Assistant in the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Laboratory at Computer Science Research Center of the National Polytechnic Institute (CIC-IPN), Mexico from 1996-2001.
Lecturer and Tutor in Pattern Recognition at Technological Institute of Toluca, Mexico from 1995-1996.
Lecturer in Data Structures and Algorithms at Autonomous University of Puebla, Puebla, Mexico during 1994.
My research includes studies on Pattern Recognition, Intelligent Data Analysis, and Datamining
Specifically my research topics include:
Logical combinatorial pattern recognition
Mixed data analysis
Prototype selection (Instance selection)
Fast most similar neighbor classifiers
Frequent Pattern mining
Pattern recognition methods for data mining
