Language Technologies

The overall objective of this research area is the development of methods for modeling and automatic processing of human language, both oral and written.
The specific objectives of this area are summarized in the following points:

  1. A greater understanding of human language in its various forms (e.g. oral, written, gestural) and different levels (e.g. phonetic, phonological, morphological, syntactic, semantic, pragmatic and discursive)

  2. The creation of innovative computational techniques for processing text, speech and knowledge.

  3. The development of new applications in areas such as handling large volumes of textual or oral information, information and knowledge management, and natural and multimodal communication.
