Resumen Curricular
Dr. Alejandro Medina Santiago is an "Investigador por México" (Researcher for Mexico) commissioned to the Department of Computer Science at the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE). He earned his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV) and his B.E. in Electronics from the National Technological Institute of Mexico, Tuxtla Gutiérrez.
His research lies at the intersection of signal processing, artificial intelligence, and hardware security, with active lines in automotive cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, and VLSI circuit design. Dr. Medina Santiago has published 25 articles in JCR-indexed journals, including first-author and corresponding-author papers in Sensors, IEEE Access, Applied Sciences, and Algorithms. His work covers topics such as neural networks for medical diagnostics, fuzzy logic for mobile robotics, and genetic algorithms for autonomous vehicle ego-motion estimation.
Beyond his research output, Dr. Medina Santiago has directed 42 graduate theses (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) and has led curriculum renewal for multiple graduate programs, including the M.Sc. in Computational Sciences at INAOE. He is an active peer reviewer with over 100 evaluations for Q1/Q2 journals, including IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence. He is a current member of Mexico's National System of Researchers (SNII Level 1) and an accredited evaluator for CONACYT. His professional service includes founding research groups, organizing international conferences, and delivering numerous invited talks on artificial intelligence and signal processing for both academic and general audiences.
